Useful Information Regarding Texas Surveying

By Patricia Richardson

Experts who work in the sector of surveying are known as land surveyors. Surveyors engage in lots of work, they often team up amongst themselves or with professionals from other lines of work. As much as they still work in teams, they really do not need them like they used before. The current technological advancements enable one person to handle several jobs. Surveying assistants and surveying technicians are the major professionals who work closely with surveyors. The facts below are what Texas Surveying is all about.

Professionals from other fields that surveyors often work hand in hand with include landscape architects, civil engineers, photogrammetrists, cartographers, and urban and regional planners. Together with these professionals, surveying specialists are able to come up with comprehensive design documents. One may work with all these professionals at once or they may work with them one after the other. Also, it is not always that all these professionals are involved in a project.

There are different types of surveyors including land and boundary, forensic, engineering/construction, geodentic, mine, marine or hydrographic surveyors. Each surveyor usually majors in their own field of specialty. It is the responsibility of a land and boundary surveyor to be involved in determining the border of legal properties and the location where an estate project should be set up.

Those who specialize in determination of precise locations of roads, buildings, and other structures and infrastructures are known as engineering or construction surveyors. They also engage in determination of exact depths for foundations of structures. They also indicate alterations in property lines and other restrictions to property. The types of buildings or structures which can be constructed on a particular piece of land are some of such restrictions.

It is common for lands located in seismically active regions not to have tall buildings that could trigger volcanic activity in the area. Restrictions can also be made to land located near an airport or an airstrip. Such pieces of land are required to have short infrastructures and buildings to provide an clear view to pilots landing and taking off from the airport. This is done to avoid any chance of an aerial accident as a result of a view obstruction.

Forensic specialists usually work in close association with law enforcement authorities. Their work involves surveying and recording accident scenes for possible landscape effects. They are also called upon to serve as professional witnesses in civil and criminal cases. They may work for private citizens, governments, or organizations. Some also work for themselves as self-employed professionals.

The most improved and sophisticated technologies in surveying are used by geodetic surveyors. Equipment used in this field gives them a chance to do satellite observations and aerial surveying. These professionals are tasked with developing a general data from measuring large areas on the surface of the earth. The data developed can be employed by government agencies or a business to make important decisions in terms of developing an area.

The work of marine or hydrographic specialists is to survey bodies of water such as rivers, oceans, harbors, lakes, and dams among many others. Their work is to determine topography of floors, shorelines, and water depths among other features. Lastly, mine surveyors map tunnels in underground mines and other places where such projects are taking place.
