What To Know About The Safety Of Sunless Tanning Lotion

By Haywood Hunter

In a hectic world where everything seems to happen non-stop it is nice to know there are a few moments you can steal for yourself. One of them can be done in the privacy of your own home or at a professional establishment. But safety is the issue and here are a few tips to consider before using Sunless Tanning Lotion.

DHA came to the news when it was proven to be a safe product for self-tanning and the world clamored to try it out. It worked well on some people but others seemed to have problems with it. It all boiled down to experimenting with how much DHA to use in any one batch and with the addition of other ingredients it became an instant hit.

Some people never realize that good skin care and healthy diet are part of getting the desired results of self-tanning. Start before you choose a product by taking Vitamin D supplements to boost your skin health. Also remember to shower before getting started and dry off thoroughly. Even a small smudge on your leg from rubbing up against the car or some other object can create a blotch in the process.

Schedule a time when you can be alone, or at least only one other person who can answer the door and prevent anyone from disturbing you. Think of it as your time to pamper yourself and relax. Whatever the directions of the package indicate you need at least that much time for the product to work. Then factor in the time it takes to shower, dry and prepare the package content. Tack on a few minutes, just for you.

Keep in mind that children are especially sensitive to chemicals, even natural ingredients and ask a professional if they have had any issues with children having reactions. In many cases, it isn't necessary to give kids any treatments as they stay outside most of the time. But some of them want to try it just to satisfy their own curiosity.

Pets must be remembered as they are often more curious than children. Safety locks or an item of furniture that is heavy enough to keep the door closed should be used to prevent them from licking the product off of you. Even if it states it is a pet safe product it will cause a place where the tanning doesn't happen. And the pet probably won't like the taste, after it's too late.

Even though a product states it is All Natural doesn't mean it is safe for consumption for every human, or animal. There are such things as allergic reactions and even pets are allergic to certain foods that humans eat. If seeds or pulp of these food items is used in manufacturing the product, then make sure to test an area, first.

It just feels good to know you look good and a nice golden aura is sure to be a winner with friends and family. Just remember to use some common sense and keep children and pets safely considered. Even in the winter time a tan gives a healthy look and a good reason to educate yourself about the products and procedures.
