Advanced Solar Panels Benefit The Environment And Your Biggest Investment

By Dorothy Cooper

There is not really a debate about global warming. People either believe in it or they don't. Although scientists almost universally agree that humans have caused what is fast becoming an environmental crisis, a few cling to the idea that increasingly warm summers and rising sea levels are just a natural cycle. These same naysayers are seeing the same rise in energy costs that everyone else is. You may not be able to control the weather or your utility company, but you can make a difference in your home and to the environment with advanced solar panels.

The idea of solar is simple. The sun generates energy that can be captured and turned into electricity with the use of panels. You don't even have to believe in global warming to see how effective this technology is when it comes reducing your utility bill. It has an added benefit as well. If you decide to sell your house, you panel system will increase the price you can ask significantly.

You may have thought you would not be able to make the improvements or additions you want to your home for a long time. With the money you save on your utility bills, the tax credits you will quality for, and the rebate programs, you could install a pool or renovate the kitchen. You need to remember too, your renewable energy system will heat that pool.

Most people dread seeing their monthly electricity bill come in the mail. They never know how high it will be. You won't have that problem with renewable energy because the costs are fixed. If you took out a loan to purchase your system, you could consider those payments the last of your utility bills. Once the loan is paid off, you no longer have an electric bill.

Stormy weather and high winds can take down power lines and put your home in the dark unless you are lucky enough to have a generator or solar power. Without electricity, you have to light candles, buy bottled water, and take cold showers. Homeowners with solar power will have lights, hot water, and air conditioning.

Installing this technology today puts you ahead of the curve. Renewable energy is the future no matter how hard the coal industry and others generating dirty energy argue against it. With government agencies and private corporations fearful of a disruption in our power grid system, renewable energy and windmills make us far less vulnerable. Municipalities are slowing getting on board requiring all new construction to have solar panels.

With one of these systems, you will not only be improving your bottom line, you will be doing your part to sustain the environment. Our air and lungs are being routinely polluted by noxious emissions. Greenhouse gases contribute to warming the globe. Marine life species are becoming extinct and the oceans are being poisoned with acid rain.

We can bury our heads in the sand and pretend we are not systematically destroying our ability to inhabit the earth, or we can do something about it. The strategic and consistent use of renewable energy is a good beginning. If we don't get serious about our human footprint now, we may not have the chance later.
