3 Free Online Resources Every Woman Can Use to Be Safer

By Scott Eric

1 - Info vs. Marvelous Stories

As a pro self-defense instructor, I am content to have so many ladies learning with us. In our alignment classes, I'm going through some quick tools and give basic information which nearly always counters the what ladies have been told. Seek the facts about your personal safety through data. Stories are exciting, engaging, frightful - but stories are dissimilar from data. Stories can include info, but stories are the micro-view. We need the macro-view.

What's truly happening where we live, work, or visit? Where can we get that? The media? The media tells stories that are specially picked, professionally produced, and edited.

The media offers a service, nonetheless it is not a public service. It is a non-public service driven by advertising. There is nothing wrong with this naturally, it just skews reporting toward getting eyeballs on screens and paper - where they'll also see the paid advertisements.

2 - Not Hiding It, Just Not Talking About It...

Are you aware that many entertainment districts with heaps of bars and eateries are privately owned, and assertive reporting on crime trends is discouraged? How is this done? With advertising greenbacks. Political influence. How often have celebrities and sportsmen gotten help "keeping it out of the papers?" The internet has certainly assisted in turning this around, there is however still picking and choosing going on.

Police reports are naturally filed. They have to be. Whether a news desk does anything with a trend of a few attacks against ladies at the hot spots is another thing.

Know What's Truly Occuring.

3 - Personal Safety is about Data, Behaviour, and Tools.

The web is an amazing source of info, which drives knowledge. These are some great, free tools that we share with our clients. Note - The Net is incredible for information , but creates some pitfalls with behavior - which I'll cover in a later article, with Social Networks.

3 FREE Info Tools that keep you safer:

www.crimereports.com - This database includes illegal activity in the U.S, UK, and Canada. A 30 day history of crimes are available on the map, with the addresses, names, and pictures of registered sex offenders. This totally free resource includes a roll-up of real police reports, on a Google map-type format.

How frequently have you had to make an inquiry about the security of an area you are going to or when considering a move? Just asking around can offer you a feel for what has happened, but it is better to understand what has happened.

Quick Background Investigation - Ever wonder whether a new chum, business associate, or neighbor has a record? Does something seem a bit "off" about someone put in from of you? You can do a moderately good search on the net, freely. This may not include everything - but most politics, crime, and law-enforcement occurs at the local level. Many states have free court record searches available on the internet. Your state's site may look different than the ones I show.

Be alert to sites that promise a free background check hitting each criminal database internationally , then send you to a landing page to get a membership. An exhaustive background check will cost money (about $20) - but a fast check check takes 2 minutes and is free. The linke is viewable from our blog.

Amazon Home Services - Initially, this one might appear strange, but over time, one of the most typical questions we have had asked from girls is how to find competent, non-creepy service execs. We do not suggest coughing up for any type of list or referral, as the paid services often prioritize businesses that pay to be on the list .

Amazon is moving assertively into home services, and the female demographic is a huge part of their multi-billion greenback enterprise. Do not squander your time calling places trying to find someone who has a brain in his head and failed to just get out of prison.

Source any service through an internet source that has reviews . Get a quote or fixed rate for simpler work. Let any provider know you can't wait to give a 5-star review for great work. (and they will understand the flip side) Any visit should be planned, ideally earlier in the morning, and any service pro should have ID and present it before getting access to your home. ?

In the subsequent article in this series, we'll have a video guide including one of our female team members installing an easy, no-fuss camera monitoring system, which anyone who can work a smartphone and laptop PC can do!
