What One Can Expect From Boxing Classes North London

By Marylou Forbes

Boxing is one of the most popular combat sports in the world and is a great way to get into to shape and to learn a form of self defense. Of course if one would want to learn this art, he has to first take up some boxing classes north London in order to perfect the art. If one is curious about what he will be learning, here is an idea of the things that will transpire there.

Of course like any sport, one has to make sure that his body is conditioned well otherwise he will not be able to move his body the way he wants to. He has to do a lot of strength exercises in order to build up his muscles and cardio exercises to build up his endurance. He has to do this so that his body will take all the boxing moves.

Now after learning the different exercises for conditioning, the next thing that one will have to learn would be how to stand properly. The proper stance for this type of fighting art would be a side stance with the left leg in front assuming that the boxer is right handed. Of course his left hand is in front and his right hand is at the back.

Now the first punch that one will learn from his lessons would be the front hand jab. This front hand jab is often used to cover distance in order to make way for another move called the cross later on. Now the jab is just a light hit that would try to confuse the opponent before setting him up for a big blow.

The second attack is known as the cross and is usually done after the jab. Now the cross is a punch that would come from the hand that is at the back. The most common and effective combination in punching would be a lead hand jab and a back hand cross.

Once one has already perfected the cross, now would be to time to learn the uppercut. For those who do not know, the uppercut is a punch that would project upwards from the ground aiming for the chin of the opponent. Now if one would want to do this move, he has to bend his legs a little and then deliver a blow from the ground.

Now the punch that is used in order to deliver a big knockout would of course be the hook. The hook is a punch that would come from the hind hand and would usually come after a jab. This is a swinging punch that would use the full rotational force of the entire body in order to deal a lot of damage to the head.

So if one would want to become a boxer, these are the basic punches and moves that he would have to learn. Now there are a lot more things that have to be learned but these are the basics that have to be mastered first. Expect to have drills on these moves a lot in the first month of the lessons.
