All About The Flsa Laws

By Tracie Knight

Throughout the years, the businessmen have been on top of the employees now. If the employer was not a very nice person, then the employees would not be able to get the compensation or the salaries that they would actually deserve. It was because of disturbing cases like these that the official flsa laws were created so that workers will not be deprived of the money that they are supposed to earn in the first place.

Now this act was first drafted a Senator named Senator Hugo Black during the early thirties. However, many in the senate did not agree with his proposal of a thirty hour per week which is why they created a revised version of his draft in the year nineteen thirty eight. The new one had forty hours of work per week with overtime also compensated.

Now the first thing that one should take note while studying this law is the implementation of minimum wage. Employers are not allowed to give any regular wage below the minimum wage bracket. Also, if a worker would work overtime, then he is allowed to get extra money which would be one and a half multiplied by his regular salary.

Now in another part, the law addresses one of the most common and longest problems that the workforce has experienced over the years. This problem is gender discrimination when it comes to compensation of workers. No longer will women have lesser pay just because they are women as this law states that everyone is equal and will be paid based on their outputs.

Of course there is also the age discrimination law that would allow almost anyone of any age to work. Now according to the law, children who are physically and mentally able may work but are restricted from doing certain dangerous jobs if they are under eighteen. Now if they are under sixteen, they are not allowed to work during school hours.

Of course there are also the clauses that would protect the ones who are older as well. Now if a company has more than twenty employees, then employers must also consider hiring workers who are forty years old and above. The only thing that the law requires is that the worker is physically able and also mentally able.

Now there is also a section of this law that would protect the farmers from unfair payment from the employers. This section states that as long as these workers would register with the Department of Labor, they may complain about their employer and have full protection of the law. This is done so that the country may protect its farmers and agricultural workers.

Now these are only some of the laws that are found in this set as there are many more. The reason that this was done was to make sure that the workers are treated fairly by their employers. This is one way to ensure that everyone will be able to get exactly what they have actually worked for.
