Steps Of Painting Walls Using Los Angeles Vinyl Coating Paints

By Raymond Scott

Painting concrete walls makes a structure to spruce the area. Though true, there are a number of key issues to be addressed first before painting them using Los Angeles vinyl coating paints. Some of the factors include the type of liquid vinyl that you will use, check for moisture and a primer to be used as the base coat.

Choose a paint that suits your project. Vinyl coating paints are resistance to moisture and sun rays and are therefore recommended for the painting. Also, pick a paint for you indoor paint job. The basement can be painted using the basement concrete paint which is available in a home improvement store in whichever part of Los Angeles CA you are in.

Ensure that the surfaces to be painted are cleaned first. Use a power washer to make it clean in order for the paint to adhere to it. If the paint were to be applied on dirty surface, the dried paint will peel off and fall. When you clean the interior areas, a power washer is not necessary because the surface is no as dirty as the exterior surfaces. Instead just use soap, water and a cloth.

Check for any blemishes on the wall. If there are cracks, repair them using a concrete patch. Follow the instructions to mix up the concrete patch. Fill up the cracks and all the holes. Using a trowel, make the patch smooth in order to match the surface. Remove any concrete mixture that smeared accidentally as they cause the wall to be rough.

Presence of moisture makes painting to fall from the wall after a while. Therefore, ensure that moisture is absent when you apply the paint. To keep off water, stick a plastic pane on it using a tape such that it is air tight. If you need to carry out a test to check for moisture, leave the plastic sheet for a day and then remove it. If it is dry, then the concrete is dry.

To kick start the painting procedure, first apply a thin coat of the primer. In order to ensure that the primer is well applied, use the proper painting apparatus. It does not matter the direction of strokes you make, make sure that you apply it evenly on the wall. Leave it to dry for a day. If you can see the surface through the coat, apply another coat to make the paint opaque.

After the primer is dry apply the vinyl coat on the wall. This time, apply three layers of this paint. Its application can be done using different approaches. It can be sprayed on, rolled or by use of a brush. The paint should be even and the strokes from the brush bristles should not be visible.

Apply a sealing coat. You should apply this in double layers but ensure you allow an interval drying time between the layers. This means that you paint the second layer after the first has dried. This coat holds the paint to the wall for long enough. Vinyl paints improve the appearance of structure despite making it look attractive.
