Security Solutions: Business Fire Alarms

By Mark Mahaffey

Smart business owners will do whatever it takes to protect their businesses from fire. If you want to avoid the trauma of suffering major loss and devastation from fire, you should learn all you can about the best way to stay safe from fire emergencies.

Do you have smoke detectors in your business? They are a great way to improve the fire security in your office. It does not cost much money to buy smoke detectors. They cost around ten dollars or so to purchase. In light of the fact that these small appliances save hundreds of lives every year, you should consider buy them.

You may be wondering where to put the smoke detectors. It is wise to put one in every room in your office. The more you have, the more likely they will be able to alert you of the presence of fire if a fire breaks out.

In order to gain the most advantages from smoke detectors, make sure to maintain them on a regular schedule. Battery maintenance is one important feature to take care of. Replace the batteries in your smoke detector every six months, so you do not end up being unprotected from non-working smoke detectors. You can also, however, get batteries that last up to ten year!

You can also have your fire alarm system hardwired to run your smoke detectors. These can come with battery back-up, so if the power goes out, you will still be protected. However, you will need to remember to check the battery in these regularly, unless you have a long life battery.

Of course, no matter how loud a smoke detector beeps when a fire breaks out, if there are people who are deaf in your building, they will not know it and may not recognize that there is a fire emergency. For these people, you should install hearing impaired smoke alarms, which will make a bright strobe light when fire is detected.
